Summary
Armstrong Flooring, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Manager to join our Demand and Distribution organization at our corporate headquarters in Lancaster, PA. The Transportation Manager is responsible for providing transportation expertise, industry expertise, and optimizing the carrier base to support the transportation network and business needs. Our team of professionals plays a critical role in ensuring the company meets its purchasing goal which is to obtain the highest quality service, at the best cost to the company, in a timely manner. Responsibilities
- Provides transportation leadership and consultation for all inbound and outbound transportation expenditures throughout the company for transportation with the U.S. and Canada, as well as international transportation to and from North America - Develops commodity strategies and strategic procurement plans for all required transportation modes - Provide procurement expertise for all transportation projects - Negotiates transportation pricing, discounts, terms, and contracts for all modes of transportation, leveraging purchasing power to obtain the best cost consistent with business requirements (TL, LTL, IML, Small Pack/Courier, FCL, LCL) - Manages strategic carrier relationships and sourcing - Accountable for administration and development of Transportation Management System (TMS) and International Transportation management and (cost) tracking - Serve as Subject Matter Expert on TMS with Superuser level ability to assist cross-function system users - Provides consultation to all internal customers on carriers, market conditions, and their impact on our businesses - Leads and/or participates in projects and process improvement efforts that have the potential to add the greatest value - Develops annual domestic and international transportation budget in conjunction with finance - Support the international monthly freight budget bridge process - Oversee team of transportation analysts to administer the transportation function - Assist the organization with developing adequate freight pay systems
Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications** - Bachelor degree in supply chain, business or related technical discipline - 7+ years of progressively responsible supply chain or domestic transportation experience - Transportation Management System experience preferred - must have strong user abilities or administrator experience in TMS or similar system - Strong analytical skills and structured approach to problem solving - Strong expertise in the procurement of domestic transportation services - Experience in the procurement of international transportation services - Strong financial analysis, negotiation and communication skills - Knowledge of supplier performance management and improvement processes - Experience in supplier selection and performance measurement - Excellent proficiency in MS Office Suite **Preferred Qualifications** - Strong TMS / Supply Chain software experience - SAP or similar ERP proficiency - Lean or Six-Sigma experience
