Responsibilities
3 Key Responsibilities for Staff Designer: Design: - Understand, support and collaborate in the creation of flooring design concepts through the design & development Process across all diverse flooring platforms; laminate, Resilient Tile, Resilient Sheet, Support, create and present Trend and Lifestyle themes - Visualization process of creating, developing, refining and evolving ideas and concepts with Computer Aided Design (CAD) to color rendered concept through to 3D Digital prototypes for new product development, customer samples and production color trials - Supports the implementation process of concepts cross-functionally through operations, manufacturing, suppliers and technologies. - Active participation in Design review and Approval process. Technical - Learn, understand and extend or adapt current materials, processes and or technologies. - Develop & creating Print Separations through CMYK to produce original artwork for production. - Understand step & repeat pattern process for creating pattern artwork - Actively support and prepare Color Artwork for Color Trial print process for New Product Development (NPD) schedule. - Use and build understanding of AVA profiling software to Rotogravure printing separation process. - Explore, advocate and create new processes and or technologies. - Understand internal operational and manufacturing capabilities. Explore and support new external operational and manufacturing partnerships or suppliers - Support print-to-press operations for Color Trial tests for Product Launches. - Works & collaborates with our external suppliers and internal manufacturing operations. Research: - Travels & supports all research efforts for face-to-face Voice-of-Customer (VOC), Focus Groups, Customer interactions, Qualitative Research etc. - Develop research skills in tabulation, analysis and insights for all product categories and channels. - Contextual research & travel for industry shows, customer trade shows and design industry shows. - Develops & identifies visual trends and themes that are on-market and impactful - Create market intelligence and knowledge of competitive market and adjacent influences.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelors degree or equivalent from accredited university or other education institution in Environments/Interior Design, Fabric/ Textiles/Surface Design, Industrial/Product Design, 2D Graphics & Printing and or 1-4 years related professional experience or internship experience in Interiors, Fabric, Graphic or Industrial Design and or printing technologies, Press Printing, Ink and or Building/Construction industries. - Experience or working knowledge of Building/Construction Industries or Home Furnishings, Fixtures and Accessories. - Visualization process of creating, adapting, refining and evolving conceptual ideas with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, in particular a complete knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or other transferable Digital Imaging software - An informative knowledge of Color Theory, Color Development and Systems. - Good organization, decision making, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills - Print separation CMYK knowledge for production press. - Competent working knowledge of PC platform and MS software, additionally an informative working knowledge of Apple Mac platform and Creative Suite (Photoshop)software is essential - Competent working knowledge of PC platform and MS software, additionally an informative working knowledge of Apple Mac platform and Creative Suite (Photoshop) software is essential.
