Summary
The Network Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for providing technical expertise and participating in or overseeing a variety of analytical and technical assignments, problems diagnosis and solutions, documentation, implementation, administration, support and maintenance on a variety of hardware, software and network products in an information technology infrastructure environment.
Responsibilities
- The role is broadly split between providing day-to-day operational support for existing infrastructure services to users of those services and project-based work leading to the development and deployment of new infrastructure services. - The successful analyst serves as a liaison between other technical staff, management, users and vendors regarding service requests, usage, standards, security and other technical issues and provides both on-site and remote access diagnoses and resolution of computer hardware and software problems.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent with 6 years of experience in a network administrative role is required. - 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, managing and supporting mission critical network environments based on Cisco hardware and IOS. - Knowledge of all common routing protocols, including but not limited to EIGRP, OSPF, BGP and RIP v2, Spanning-tree, HSRP. - Solid understanding of industry-standard network design principles and best practices. - Solid understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols - Current CCNA Voice and/or CCNP Voice certification. - Knowledge of VolP (Voice over IP) implementation and support. - Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls. - Must hold a valid driver's license with no restrictions and possess reliable transportation - Strong communication and documentation skills - Prior experience with conducting presentations, ITIL framework processes and project management - Citrix Netscaler - Cisco ASA - Checkpoint Firewalls - Cisco UCS and Cisco Nexus Switches - Cisco Routers & Switches **Desired Qualifications for the Network Engineer:** - Cisco UC version 10+ (Call Manager, Unity Connect, IM & Presence and Collaboration) - Cisco Voice Gateway H323/SIP/SCCP/SRST/MGCP, T1/PRI & POTS - Cisco QoS for Enterprise Networks
