Research Scientist - Agricultural

Based at our Corporate Offices and R&D Center in King of Prussia, PA, the Research Scientist is responsible for scouting, testing, and evangelizing new applications for Arkema's Hydrogen Peroxide business unit. The primary function of this position is to provide hands-on technical development of new products and applications, while assisting with tactical key customer technical development/support where needed. This is an exciting and dynamic opportunity for a creative scientist who wants to combine both hands-on technology development with significant business unit and potential customer interaction within a tight-knit and entrepreneurial atmosphere. Challenging assumptions, making new connections, and establishing partnerships with external partners and innovators will be key for success in this role.

- Fully participates in the Arkema KOP safety programs and ensures safe laboratory operation - Performs background research to evaluate potential for new application areas for H2O2 identified by BU and R&D management. This includes literature and patent searches, engagement of university researchers and professors, and leveraging the scientists own network where appropriate. - Perform formulation work to test and improve grades of H2O2 for new and existing customers. Works closely with the regulatory function to set up necessary external testing for registration support where needed - Designs, implements, and executes R&D plan to carry out new product and application developments. This will include researching and developing test methods to demonstrate proof-of-principle for emerging applications, designing and constructing test apparatus, and hands-on testing. - Regularly provide internal updates to Arkema stakeholders in Global R&D and Business function. These will include clear illustration of progress to date, next steps in workplan, and updated estimates of potential size of opportunities for the Business to estimate value from. - Compellingly present and explain new applications for H2O2 to potential external customers, this may involve travel 15-30% of the time depending on phase of projects - Contribute to the innovation culture at Arkema by exhibiting curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and relentless collaboration with others.

- PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biochemistry with 2-8 years of experience or a MS in Chemistry/Chem E with 6-12+ years’ experience. Prior industrial experience is strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, ability to deliver results with minimal supervision, and a strong desire to collaborate is critical. Some research, field experience, or previous work in the following areas is a significant plus: - New Application development in a B2B environment - Agricultural product development and basic knowledge of regulatory environment - FIFRA and Biocide product regulation experience - External outreach and collaboration, including universities, government labs, and research consultants. - Also critical is the demonstrated ability to handle and work with hazardous materials, and to work safely and independently in a chemical laboratory environment.
