Apple’s Siri team is looking for talented Engineers to help design, develop, and support their large scale infrastructure based on Hadoop. The ideal candidate is passionate about open source technologies with a track record of contribution. We are looking for a candidate who is focused on furthering Hadoop technologies at Apple. Candidates will be working closely with not only the Siri Operations team but also with Siri platform development. It is crucial that this individual works well with others, as the Siri team is a strong, collaborative, and dynamic organization.

• Operate one of the largest HBase clusters globally which supports millions of Siri customers around the world in a 24x7 environment
• Troubleshoot Hadoop related application and infrastructure issues at scale
• Participate in the deployment of infrastructure located in various geographic regions
• Contribute to the development of Hadoop related technologies
• Lead automation efforts to streamline the management of Hadoop infrastructure
• Provide direction to other Apple teams on how to leverage open source technologies

Education:

• B.S. degree in Computer Science or 5 + years of programming experience or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

• Mesos infrastructures
• JVM performance optimizations
• Contributor to Apache HBase project

Key Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem (Zookeeper, HBase, HDFS, Flume, Map Reduce)
• Expert knowledge with object-oriented programming languages (Java)
• Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system
• Fluent in at least one scripting language (Shell, Python, Ruby, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Team oriented individual who can work well with others
