The College of Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) is seeking an academic centric Competancy Based (CBE) Instructional Designer that has experience managing a course/program through its life cycle –a creative problem-solver with the ability to collaborate, to refresh current and develop new curriculum and program design activities. The ideal candidate will be able to clearly describe and identify the current and future state of IS&T curriculum (online & ground) to drive activities associated with the development, evaluation, assessment, and internal operations of academic programs, courses, and/or product lines.
We are seeking candidates that have:
- A Master’s degree in instructional design is strongly preferred
- A well-earned and verifiable reputation for developing and delivering relevant curriculum/programs
- An ability to collaborate with administration and adjunct faculty/practitioners
- An entrepreneurial spirit, an interest in reinventing education
- Demonstrated agility and flexibility; embracing change; and self-development
- Strongly Prefer candidates that have experience with competency based learning/education (CBE)
- Prefer candidates that familiar with ATD, ASTD, ISPI or attended Elliott Masie's or like conference
- Develops and monitors a work plan for curriculum development and maintenance projects. Manages activities of projects to ensure they progress on schedule and are completed by established deadlines.
- Evaluates materials to ensure conformance with established University policies, practices, and standards as well as instructional alignment and appropriate styles, standards, and specifications to achieve established program outcomes.
- Uses multiple measures of student learning outcomes to formulate recommendations for course and program improvement. Presents research findings and recommendations to management and/or curriculum review committee as needed or requested.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of student assessment activities.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of University product lines, policies, practices, standards, and philosophy.
- Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and pursuing related professional development opportunities.
- Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited college or university and or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least one or more years’ experience writing/editing and developing instructional materials, e.g. curriculum design or instructional design
- At least one or more years’ experience aligning student learning outcomes with curriculum, course content, materials, and evaluation
- At least one or more years’ experience performing project management activities.
Additional Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in instructional design is preferred
- At least two years of experience performing in an instructional design role preferred
- Experience working with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to develop curriculum is preferred.
- Experience creating assessments to support student learning outcomes preferred
- Possess an understanding of instructional design principles and experience with course design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Possess the ability to effectively communicate and present data analysis, research findings, projects, and recommendations
