Devops Engineer

Answers in Genesis is an apologetics (i.e., Christianity-defending) ministry, dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively. We focus particularly on providing answers to questions surrounding the book of Genesis, as it is the most-attacked book of the Bible.

We are looking for a person who has a passion for automating daily tasks that slow down development and exploring new ways to improve the setup of our environments as well as deploying code continuously in an Open-Source/Linux environment. This position would be working with developers to provision new systems that eliminate downtime and deploy new releases fast and efficiently as well as tune our entire production stack.

* Develop systems that can be easily reproduced * Automate deployment methodologies * Develop cohesion of systems * Patching and maintaining all Linux servers * Bridging the gap between developers and system administrators * Develop automated testing methodologies * All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

**Requirements** * Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services * Ability to code and script * Experience with systems and IT operations * Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment * Strong grasp of automation tools * Data management skills * A strong focus on business outcomes * Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders * Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith. * Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. * Regular attendance at a local Bible-believing church. **Education & Experience** * 3-5 years of Linux Administrations * Experience with Chef or other devops methods * Possess the ability to work in a platform agnostic environment * Experience with VmWare or other virtualization platforms * Experience with Networking and routing hardware and protocols * Ability to diagnose and fix problems in an expedited manner * Experience with versioning software (Git, Subversion, etc.)
