Acoustic Engineering Manager

My client designs, manufactures and distributes a comprehensive suite of receivers, speakers, speaker modules, multi-function devices, microphones, transducers, and headsets for use in mobile headsets, game consoles, notebook computers and other consumer electronics devices. They offer robust assembled solutions to customers (e.g., speaker+ antenna+ housing for mobile handsets). This includes expanding into adjacent relevant technologies (haptics, optics, thermal, battery) to create even more robust solutions. Focus is on technology, not assembly.

* Active involvement in the NPI stage of a new product to work with our customer and our engineering team in China to complete new designs with continued support through production phase. * Technical interface with new and existing customers. Present technical documents and discuss new design solutions. * Principle products will be but not limited to micro-speakers, micro-speaker plastic enclosures and vibe motors that go into mobile electronic devices such a cell phones, notebook and tablet computers * Communicate effectively with the china team on the priorities and goals of our customer’s designs. * Will require occasional travel in North America and to China.

* Minimum of 3 years of Acoustic design experience for various high volume manufacturing processes such as mobile phone, tablets and notebook computers. * Direct experience and understanding of the entire mechanical design and development process from concept, development, approval, pre-production and high volume production. * Design experience should include some level injection molding, insert molding, stamping, forging and material science. * Experience with acoustic design, acoustic testing and knowledge of SoundCheck software and the Klippel analyzer * Experience with ProE, Solidworks and/or AutoCAD. * Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to capably represent the company when interfacing with customer mechanical manufacturing experts. * Interest in moving towards (or experience in) an applications engineering/customer interaction/sales role. * Ability to learn to operate effectively and build relationships in a new culture. * Demonstrates strong leadership skills that can direct a group of people towards a common goal. * Experience working with Chinese companies. * Mandarin language skills is a plus.
