Summary
This position is responsible for supporting strategic planning and contract administration functions associated with Amtrak’s relationship with the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and other agencies of the Maryland Department of Transportation, primarily as associated with capital projects funded in part or in full by MTA. Oversight of financial forecasts and variance analysis associated with MTA-funded projects and MARC commuter rail operation.
Responsibilities
* In conjunction with Engineering, prepare monthly project status reports, including financial variance analyses and forecasts and review monthly invoices and coordinate Amtrak responses to any MTA questions. (25%) * Provide MTA with necessary information to support its federal reporting requirements, including Federal Transit Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail supported projects. (20%) * Coordinate frequent field meetings to discuss and resolve issues associated with construction, operations, phasing, etc. with relevant Amtrak and MTA departments and coordinate quarterly meetings between Amtrak and MTA, and additional meetings as needed. (20%) * Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, including Engineering, Procurements, Transportation, Finance, Law, Government Affairs, Real Estate, local/state agencies and MTA to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. (35%)
Ideal Candidate
**Work Experience:** * Familiarity with NORAC, RWP, AMT II, applicable FRA rules and regulations, OSHA requirements and other federal, state and local regulations and standards, as necessary to ensure contract compliance. * Demonstrated skills using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel, Access) and presentation software; Microsoft Word, PowerPoint * Demonstrated experience supporting, tracking and coordinating large scale projects. **Preferred Work Experience:** * Demonstrated experience in Project Management; Working knowledge of Amtrak Engineering Department managed projects and associated processes. * Experience in Amtrak financial, accounting, and project management systems (WebWEE, Primavera, SAP, Timberline) * Experience in database management using Microsoft Access * Demonstrated experience and knowledge of train operations, railroad maintenance and construction methods **Supervisory Responsibilities:** No
