Responsibilities
- The Engineer in Thermal Packaging will participate in cross-functional teams to develop shipper solutions that meet Amgen's expanding business needs. Serve as the SME for addressing and resolving technical issues or challenges related to cold chain shippers. Apply engineering and project-management principles to develop and qualify thermal packaging systems based on quality-by-design approaches and in accordance with GMP procedures. - The individual has responsibility to independently lead the development of thermal shipping systems for both large and small molecules, perform technical assessment and studies, write technical reports, manuals, specifications, SOPs, and bill-of-materials. Manage collaborative relationships with internal customers and external partners, and is expected to support new product registration and GMP PAI inspection. - The ability to travel domestically and internationally on an as-needed basis is required approximately 20%.
Ideal Candidate
Basic Qualifications - Master's Degree OR Bachelor's Degree & 2 years of Engineering or Operations experience OR Associate's degree & 6 years of Engineering or Operations experience OR High school diploma/GED & 8 years of Engineering or Operations experience Preferred Qualifications - Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical or Packaging Engineering, or Applied Physics with 3+ years of experience or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical or Packaging Engineering, or Applied Physics with 2+ years of experience. - Work experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Demonstrated accomplishment in manufacturing or supply-chain areas with strong fundamental knowledge on thermal packaging systems, packaging engineering, and/or material science, and/or transportation-quality systems. - Demonstrated organizational, project management, technical problem-solving and (written & verbal) communication skills. - Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with a range of technically and culturally diverse people, to influence them to execute for a common goal, and to deliver value-added results that meet high quality requirements within a tight schedule. - Demonstrated skills in technical presentation, issue organization, and analytical problem solving. - Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a multitude of tasks concurrently.
