Responsibilities
The Materials and Packaging Engineer will apply advanced and diverse engineering principles to identify and assess new packaging materials and technology as to their adaptability to Amgen processes as follows: - Working with our suppliers, equipment engineers, design engineers and sites to understand critical material attributes to streamline both the vendor component creation process and the implementation of these primary and secondary packaging components and/or systems within Amgen sites. - Screening, selection and process development of novel primary and secondary packaging materials for both large and small molecule products - Performing technical assessments and manufacturing process studies to justify the selected materials and identify key critical to quality attributes to assure successful technical transfer into Amgen sites. - Contribute to the technology transfer from clinical to commercial operations for both components and equipment processes, ensure that line trials and packaging validation is conducted prior to introduction and resolving any packaging related issues at the sites. - This position will support the characterization of process optimization strategies and/or trouble shooting of operational issues. - Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Ideal Candidate
Basic Qualifications - Master's Degree OR Bachelor's Degree & 2 years of Engineering, Scientific or Operations experience OR Associate's degree & 6 years of Engineering, Scientific or Operations experience OR High school diploma/GED & 8 years of Engineering, Scientific or Operations experience Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or related technological field and 5+ years of packaging/engineering work experience with 2+ years within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Demonstrated skills working in teams or leading project teams. Ability to multi-task and manage timelines.
