Summary
AmeriQual Foods, an Evansville, IN based food manufacturing facility, is seeking a Food Scientist. This position is responsible for performing various tasks related to product development of new items, renovation of existing items, and production support to ensure quality product is produced and maintained.
Responsibilities
* Military Product Development- MRE & Poly Tray, including lab stage, PDM & First Article productions runs, & providing support for initial production start-ups. Maintain & support documentation to support all stages of testing * Assist in redesign & renovation of existing products to increase quality, reduce costs & or increase production efficiencies. * Maintain Military formulation files – review appropriate batch sizes, procedures and update as necessary. * Batch Auditing & Production paperwork review * Support production with troubleshooting out of spec product or production concerns on established products. * Work with production and procurement departments to develop specifications for Military ingredients. * Enter ingredient specifications and create formulas in Genesis (nutrient /label software) for creation of military labels. * Must maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate start production and / or adjustments required on second shift. Limited weekend work also required. * Must be available evenings and weekends (off hours) to answer phone calls or emails (on Company provided smart phone) pertaining to production issues. * Must interact with customers and plant personal in a professional manor. Showing products to management and/or customers. * Complete other required tasks as necessary
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or other related field. * Minimum 3+ years of experience in food product development required & previous experience in food manufacturing strongly preferred. * Good communications skills, problem solving and activity planning. * Knowledgeable MSOffice Excel, Word. * Ability to work independently while maintaining close communication and collaborative work relationships with all levels of the organization * Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and anticipate changing project needs.
