Summary
American National is seeking an experienced Programmer Analyst for our historic Galveston, TX location. This role supports our company call centers through the interactive voice response technology and customer service user interfaces.
Responsibilities
* Write well designed, testable, and efficient applications to support various call centers; including web applications, user interfaces, and interactive voice response system * Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications. * Apply current programming standards and methodologies to all relevant projects and activities. * Keep current with existing and emerging technologies * Provide expertise in the full software development lifecycle, from conception and design to testing. * Integrate software application with other systems (Avaya phone system, backend systems)
Ideal Candidate
**Education/Certification Required:** * Graduation from college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field and four (4) years of experience in programming and systems design OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience **Special Knowledge/Skills Needed:** * Technical proficiency in relevant languages and development tools including Java/JavaEE application development, web services, javascript, HTML5, SQL, and XML * Thorough understanding of structured programming principles, system analysis techniques, system design, industry standard testing principles, and system implementation * A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices * Strong background in developing UIs to create exceptional user experiences * Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills * Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills * Commitment to excellent customer service and product development * Strong team skills and the ability to work independently * Ability to manage priorities and tasks in a fast-paced work environment **These skills are a plus:** * IVR Application Development experience using Avaya Dialog Designer, Avaya Orchestration Designer * Knowledge of Avaya Voice Portal Management System, Avaya Experience Portal Agile Methodology
