Responsibilities
- AGA is in search of a communications specialist. Reporting to the Vice President, the communications specialist is a key member of the Communications team and helps in the execution of the association’s communications and marketing efforts. The specialist will assist in the development of AGA’s communications products and collaborate with all members of the Communications team, staff, and membership to conceive, plan and produce materials. This position will include some support and administrative duties such as managing press clips, updating media lists and fact sheets and assisting with media event planning. - The communications specialist will write and edit material for industry and member communications including AGA’s website and social media programs as well as press releases, fact sheets and newsletters for media, members and other external audiences. S/he will assist in preparing speeches and presentations for delivery by AGA leadership to its membership, media and other key external audiences. The specialist will assist the Director of Public Relations in building and managing relationships with representatives of key media outlets and stakeholder organizations and with the planning and execution of public relations programs including media outreach planning, press conferences and media events; interviews with AGA and industry leaders; article placements; and outreach to the public and key stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
- The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Communications or related discipline. Minimum two years experience in the media/communications field as a journalist, writer, or editor, preparing communications materials for a variety of audiences, preferably in energy-related and/or industry association organizations is essential. Excellent writing, editorial capability and communications skills including social media (blogging, Twitter, Facebook) are required. The position requires a strong customer service orientation.
