Amec Foster Wheeler Environmental & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team in Gainesville, FL.

In this position you will provide technical solutions and assist with business development initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Senior Environmental or Water Resources Scientist Professional needed with strong relationship building and technical skills to help deliver quality products to customers in an expanding marketplace
  • Directs and supervises technical assignments (both field and office) and manages entire projects or specific elements of projects.
  • Will write work plans, complete statistical analysis of complex datasets, prepare and run fate and transport models for hazardous chemicals and nutrients and nutrient loading models
  • Conduct groundwater and oceanographic modeling, write reports and other technical submittals and will lead or direct sampling and other environmental efforts in the field
  • Develop and maintain effective client relations
  • Prepare and conduct technical review of reports, models, correspondence, calculations and will prepare technical recommendations
  • Prepare proposals with limited supervision and assist in preparation of large-scale proposals
  • Strong commitment to company’s Beyond Zero Safety program
  • Follow company safety standards, site safety standards and maintain safe workplace practices
Ideal Candidate
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Toxicology, Water Resources, Oceanography or related science.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent work or research history
  • 10 - 20+ years of related environmental experience. Consulting experience preferred
  • In-depth demonstrated knowledge in all areas of water resources science including chemical fate and transport, Clean Water Act compliance, NPDES permitting, TMDLs and toxicology
  • Risk Assessment experiences a plus
  • Experience with water quality issues and sediment contamination concerns
  • Experience with nutrient loading to Florida water bodies and the processes for preventing nutrient loading such as BMPs
  • Understanding and background with the NEPA process and preparing EAs and EISs
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with toxicology testing and a strong background in biostatistics. Additional experience with macroinvertebrate taxonomy would be helpful
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to prepare reports and proposals
  • Working knowledge of software including statistical software, databases, GIS, oceanographic and groundwater modeling and MS Office applications
  • Ability to manage scopes, schedules and budgets for projects and work tasks
  • Strong project management and client skills with proven connections to the Florida marketplace highly preferred
  • Proven proficiency at marketing, managing projects and managing / mentoring people
  • Professional certification highly preferred
  • Must be able to travel locally and out of area as necessary; Majority of travel will be within Florida
  • Must be located in the Gainesville area or willing to relocate to the Gainesville area
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
