Summary

The ideal Radiological Engineer/Health Physicist candidate must have the appropriate aptitude and technical ability/competency to work closely with and support the Moab UMTRA Radiological Control Manager and Environmental Compliance Managers. This person would have knowledge of radiological- and environmental-based federal, state, and local regulations and requirements, and of national and international radiation/environmental protection standards and recommendations. The ideal Radiological Engineer/Health Physicist candidate would have knowledge of techniques in the development of comprehensive radiation protection programs for an industrial/nuclear complex and be able to support part of the Environmental Compliance requirement within an industrial/nuclear complex.

Responsibilities
  • The selected individual will work closely with Operations, Radiological Control Manager, Environmental, and Health & Safety personnel to develop detailed and comprehensive work procedures/project position papers/etc. and perform radiological/environmental engineering studies that support the performance of safe and efficient radiological and environmental work
  • Assess conditions associated with project work assignments and determine the most efficient method(s) to perform work while satisfying program and site requirements
  • Stay current/proficient on project-specific regulatory requirements and update plans/procedures/programs that implement those requirements
  • Maintain project-related Radiological Control documentation and prepare required Radiological Control reports and surveys
  • Maintain knowledge of technical requirements applicable to the assigned scope of work
  • Mentor under the Radiological Control Manager and Environmental Compliance Manager for the project and support (on a part-time basis) project opacity and storm water planning, inspections and reporting requirements
Ideal Candidate
  • Must be a US Citizen (no dual citizenship - no exceptions)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Physics or related degree, or a combination of related experience and education in lieu of a degree
  • At minimum of five years of technical/professional experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Moab UMTRA radiological qualifications (i.e., RWT II)
  • Must maintain qualifications to strict program standards that regulate the conduct of project work
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Storm Water inspection and planning certification and EPA Method 9 Opacity Certification (within three months of hire)
  • Our ideal candidate is open to continued learning within the UMTRA field
  • Must pass drug test, background check, and physical; and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
