Overview:
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Project Level Environmental / Safety Compliance Specialist to join our team in Chantilly, VA. The purpose of this role is to perform (under the direction of a project manager) environmental compliance audits, environmental / safety inspections, soil and groundwater assessments, report writing and other project related tasks. The ideal candidate for this position is self-motivated and will be comfortable conducting project assignments and field work independently. Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform environmental compliance and/or safety audits independently or as a team member
- Assist in evaluation and development of environmental management systems
- Conduct field work under the direction of a senior staff to investigate the nature and extent of soil and groundwater contamination
- Provide oversight and direction of subcontractors performing drilling, excavating and/or minor construction
- Conduct site visits to make observations and gather information to evaluate compliance with environmental permits and SPCC/ODCP plans
- Assist project manager in updating environmental plans and permits
- Prepare technical summary reports following field work
- Assist in proposal writing and participate in targeted marketing opportunities
- Some travel is required
- Three to seven years' experience in the environmental consulting or services industry
- BS/BA in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or one of the physical or natural sciences
- Knowledge of federal environmental compliance regulations
- Project experience with federal clients and programs is a plus
- Previous field experience and OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certified is highly preferred
- Familiarity with Virginia, Maryland and DC environmental regulations is a plus
- HAZMAT (asbestos, lead, etc.) survey experience and associated training/certifications (i.e. CSP) is a plus
- Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
