Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an Entry-Level Water / Wastewater Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Entry-Level Engineer will provide a diverse range of field and office support tasks, including, but not limited to, mathematical calculations relating to water/waste design, assist in development of regulatory compliance plans and utility rate studies, preparing technical reports, plans, and specifications. Projects are primarily located within the Southwest Region of the United States, however there is potential for projects throughout the United States and abroad. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other Amec Foster Wheeler offices throughout the company.
- This position offers the opportunity to work with, learn from, and be mentored by senior engineering staff
- Work as part of our Water/Wastewater Group focusing on water utility and infrastructure projects
- Conduct field investigations, data gathering, and construction observation
- General data review, data analysis and report writing
- Travel schedule will vary depending on project needs; Will travel to project sites mostly in New Mexico; Occasional travel to Southwest US, US and international locations; Approximately 30% of travel will be overnight
- Prepare various draft project reports, such as location studies, environmental studies, regulatory compliance plans, utility rate studies, under direct supervision of Associate Engineer, become familiar with a variety of basic engineering and environmental activities, including data collection and compilation, and assembly and analysis of field information
- Prepare routine field documentation
- Check the calculations of other workers for accuracy, completeness, and procedure
- Follow Amec Foster Wheeler practices, procedures and protocol including health & safety policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with emphasis on water and wastewater engineering; Master’s Degree is preferred, but not required
- EIT is required
- 0-3 years’ experience
- Ability to provide support to geotechnical and environmental remediation projects, on an as needed basis
- Ideal candidate will have a solid educational background in engineering fundamentals with an emphasis on civil or environmental engineering, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will be a proactive problem solver
- Enthusiastic, self-starter with desire to provide excellent service to clients
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Autodesk Civil 3D, ArcGIS)
- Valid driver’s license
- Travel schedule will vary depending on project needs; Ability and willingness to travel to project sites mostly in New Mexico; Occasional travel to Southwest US, US and international locations; Approximately 30% overnight travel
- Physical requirements may require lifting up to 50 pounds and traverse over rugged terrain
- Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
