Summary
Altman Vilandrie & Company delivers actionable, data-driven results to our clients. Our Analytics Innovation Team (“AIT”) is an internal product development group that is developing a suite of advanced analytics products. By developing proprietary technology tools, we enable our clients to more directly embed our work in their business processes. AIT currently manages three product platforms, which cover marketing optimization and network optimization.
Responsibilities
- Designing algorithms to convert client questions and datasets into insightful answers 2. Coding algorithms using Python for demonstration, ad-hoc analysis, and small-scale production 3. Guiding professional programmers in understanding and constructing complex production-ready analysis 4. Functioning as a subject matter expert for diverse projects across the firm
Ideal Candidate
The Data Scientist is an entry to mid-level position for applicants with a mathematically inclined mindset and a passion for working with large data sets. We seek Specialists with strong data problem solving skills and a track record of achieving results, as well as a desire for the personal impact that can only be found within a boutique organization. Candidates should have the following qualifications: **Required Skills** - Expertise in developing stochastic models of real world phenomena and/or machine learning approaches to surface fitting and kernel approximations - Experience in empirical methods on real world (i.e., noisy) data sets - Intermediate Python skills and familiarity with associated mathematics libraries - Some familiarity with SQL and relational databases **Experience/Education** - Application of relevant skills to solve complex business problems - Preparation of analytics results and presentation to managers - Managing own work under tight time constraints - Graduate degree in math, computer science, or engineering - 3-5 years’ experience developing advanced analytics in a business or academic setting
