Software Engineer - Tool and Process Engineer

Altair is focused on the development and broad application of simulation technology to synthesize and optimize designs, processes and decisions for improved business performance.

The position includes Administration responsibility for the Aspen Application Suite. Aspen is a three tier (Client/Server/Database) application developed on J2EE platform that supports the company's embedded controller software development lifecycle. Support the internal user community in the operation of tools and work with IT to support and oversee global server tool set.

- Maintain Java based thick client toolchain used in production interface code generation - Create production datasets for the engineering community - Work with IT to insure solutions are configured to meet standards - Support users in engineering (troubleshoot issues, coach & mentor users, etc.) - In conjunction with IT, review the Oracle database quality of service parameters and provide feedback reviews on system performance - Maintain training materials for the tool set - Collaborate with technical team and user community to ensure the system is operating efficiently - Troubleshoot user issues to resolve the problem. Help communicate and resolve team’s issues and ensure assigned actions are closed in a timely manner

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science - Expertise working with C and Java - Experience with embedded controller software design - Oracle SQL database design and optimization - Understand server based clients and information systems - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Five or more years of demonstrated technical knowledge and ability in relevant engineering disciplines - High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others - High level of analytical ability to generalize and reason about complex problem spaces in search of solutions widely applicable across the automotive domain
