Summary
This position is responsible for the design, development, testing and troubleshooting of power conversion and control systems such as inverters, DC/DC converters, battery chargers, power factor correctors, and motor drives. The applications for these power products will be for Defense and high-reliability industrial applications in the 100W to 10MW range.
Responsibilities
* Duties include: analyzing requirements; researching and developing solutions; performing analysis (based on mathematical, simulated, and experimental data); maintaining detailed design documentation; developing, testing and troubleshooting prototypes; preparing and updating manufacturing documentation; and supporting other functional groups in collaborative efforts. * Analyzing and selecting components to satisfy solution requirements. * Development of controls and/or control algorithms that may include firmware development and hardware design. * Applying expertise in the development of DC/DC, DC/AC, and AC/DC power conversion topologies * Applying sound engineering practices such that challenging EMI and other technical requirements are satisfied. * Developing power conversion and control systems for high power motor drive applications
Ideal Candidate
* BSEE (or BSPE) with emphasis on power electronics and related experience is required. * 10+ years Electrical Engineering experience * Strong technical abilities, self-starter, and a champion for his/her designs and products. * Expertise in power conversion technology and topologies is required * Thorough knowledge of, and hands-on experience with control theory, especially embedded control, is desirable. * Experience with the use of PWM controllers, digital logic, analog signal processors, isolation amplifiers, PFC control IC’s, A/D and D/A converters, and a wide assortment of power electronic devices is a required. * Must work well with others and possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
