Laboratory Assistant I

- Collect Specimens
- Process Specimens
- Perform limited laboratory procedures (waived)
- Maintain supply levels
- Assist with training of new employees
- Additional duties / responsibilities as assigned
- Required CE = 6 credits (hours) / year
- Perform and document QC: takes appropriate remedial action following established laboratory guidelines
- Perform proficiency testing as assigned and maintain documentation to comply with regulatory requirements
- Participate in laboatory and facility TQI teams as assigned
- Assist in monitoring of QA indicators
- Respond to and resolve customer concerns and questions within guidelines
- Meet requirement for annual infection control and safety / security education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Phlebotomy experience or phlebotomy certification
- Experience in one or more of the following preferred: Computers, filling, typing, specimen processing, billing, medical assistant, reception, waived testing
Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills

- Possess a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to train others
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks / assignments to support efficient and efective operation of the laboratory
- Basic problem solving skills associated with work area. Ability to function as a department resource to coworkers and customers

Working Conditions
0.5 FTE day shifts are 530am-2pm. Weekends are every other on evening shift. Saturday and Sunday 2pm-1030pm
