Mechanical Engineer

The principle emphasis of this position is to provide mechanical engineering, design and installation of safe, low maintenance, competitive production facilities and to provide leadership for the successful completion of major projects. The ability to manage large multiple projects is critical.

- Plans, coordinates and manages special engineering projects of large scope from concept to final equipment checkout and training. - Conducts feasibility studies and reports recommendations. - Studies technical and maintenance problems; develops, recommends and implements solutions. - Communicates in a timely manner, with all parties having an interest in the project. - Uses engineering knowledge and judgment. - Uses standard corporate procedures. - Uses effective planning, scheduling and control techniques including cost control. - Directs activities of design support firms assigned to projects. - Participates in campus relations and college recruiting programs. - Recommends technical and procedural policy changes and implements Company policy. - Participates in project safety reviews, safety inspections and other applicable safety programs. Takes on the responsibility to see that safety is considered in all aspects of projects. - Trains less experienced engineers and trains maintenance and operating personnel on new or revised equipment.

**Basic Qualifications** * The incumbent must be qualified through extended practical project experience in mechanical engineering and design fields and have at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. * Knowledge and broad understanding of Company operation and procedures is essential, as in engineering experience in flat rolled products manufacturing processes and in design, specification and installation of flat rolled products process equipment. **Preferred Qualifications** * Registration as a Professional Engineer is desirable.
