Summary
Alcoa Fastening Systems & Rings (AFSR) has an exciting new opportunity for a Manufacturing Automation Engineer. The key deliverable of this role is the identification, justification and implementation of manufacturing automation technologies that add value for AFSR and its Stakeholders. This position will be responsible for identifying and implementing manufacturing automation solutions ranging from low-level sensing and machine control through multi-level (ref. ISA-95) manufacturing systems with robust data collection and analysis capability. This position can be based in the Torrance, CA headquarters or the Fullerton, CA facility.
Responsibilities
* The key deliverable of this position is the identification, justification and implementation of manufacturing automation technologies that add value for AFSR and its Stakeholders. This position shall be responsible for identifying and implementing manufacturing automation solutions ranging from low-level sensing and machine control through multi-level (ref. ISA-95) manufacturing systems with robust data collection and analysis capability. * Working with Business Unit, Supplier, and manufacturing site resources, develop and deploy manufacturing automation solutions in-line with the Business Unit’s long-term strategy. * The position will have responsibility to design and execute the integration of diverse manufacturing process equipment into a cohesive “Smart Manufacturing” network. * Develop, and deliver automation solutions using a standard toolset of automation hardware and software; with a focus on solutions that can be replicated to provide common solutions. * Work with peers to cost justify, procure and implement new strategies leading to standardized implementation of automation technologies and processes. Assess and combine the needs of multiple sites into a strategic manufacturing automation plan. * Work with appropriate IT and other resources to manage networked plant floor equipment (account/network administration, security, connectivity, etc…) * Develop, implement, and support various manufacturing automation systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA, MES, Historian, Visualization, etc…) * Become a support resource in the manufacturing automation help chain. * Ensures adherence to IT/PCS Architecture principles and guidelines. * Global travel up to 20%. Weekend travel and work and participation in conference calls and meetings during late night/early morning hours may be required occasionally. * Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

Weekend travel and work and participation in conference calls and meetings during late night/early morning hours may be required occasionally. **Basic Qualifications** * Bachelor’s Degree * Minimum of five years of experience with industrial networks and manufacturing automation systems. **Preferred Qualifications** * Prefer the Bachelor’s Degree is in Electrical Engineering * Prefer 10+ years of experience with industrial networks and manufacturing automation systems. * Previous experience integrating plant floor equipment with MES and ERP systems (Simatic IT and MFG/Pro experience preferred) * Manufacturing automation experience in a discrete manufacturing environment. * Familiar with Aerospace quality requirements. * Has specific experience with “SMART Manufacturing” concepts and implementation * Formal training on Siemens and Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation products preferred. * Previous experience integrating Siemens and Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation solutions preferred. * Experience implementing software used in 24x7 shop floor environments. * Knowledge of standards and methodology of Project Management Institute (PMI). PMP certification desired but not required.
