Summary
We are in search of experienced Construction Specialists for our Tennessee Operations facility. The Construction Specialist will construct, repair, install and paint as required in the construction and maintenance of furnaces, buildings and grounds,.
Responsibilities
* Operate heavy mobile equipment (i.e mobile cranes, excavation equipment, payloaders) * Build, install, and repair all types of wooden and steel buildings and structures, including siding and roofing * Construct and install scaffolding. * Install building and roadway guardrail. * Surface preparation and application of paint, and other protective coatings * Operate, perform minor maintenance, and make road repairs on all types of construction equipment, such as cranes, hoists, pumps, compressors, earth moving equipment, autos, etc. * Install and repair crane structural steel, except where steel is part of equipment. * Install and repair doors and windows. * Operate vehicles as related to work * Build, repair, and install wooden furniture, cabinets, and other mill work including installation of builder’s hardware. * Welding and burning. * Layout work (i.e. blueprint reading, establishing grade). * Concrete forming and rebar installation.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications** * High school graduate or GED * 1+ year construction experience in a variety of areas, including painting, installation, repair, heavy equipment operation, burning, welding, and roofing OR a Certificate from a post-secondary Industrial Maintenance or Construction program * Proficiency with basic computer applications. * Successful candidates must pass all 3 phases of the Alcoa Construction Specialist entrance test. **Preferred Qualifications** * 3+ years mechanical construction experience in a manufacturing environment. * Completion of an approved apprentice program or technical training. * Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and applications. * Strong communication skills, written and verbal. * Associates or bachelor’s degree in an applicable field. * Demonstrated ability to operate in a team based environment.
