Summary
Technical Project Managers are a part of the Akamai Professional Services team and work directly with Akamai's clients to deliver stellar solutions. TPMs lead and manage the integration of customers’ web sites with the Akamai platform. They are involved early in the pre-sales cycle through implementation and customer sign-off. TPMs must have a full understanding of development methodologies, consulting best practices, and common web and application architectures. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent client and project management skills, proven ability to perform hands on technical work when needed, and ability to lead projects and global teams. Successful candidates must be action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the full customer lifecycle, from pre-sales, through implementation, and to post-implementation support * Interact with Akamai’s sales team and the customer during the pre-sales cycle to provide implementation scope and estimates, create proposals and Statements of Work, and conduct trials. * Own customer implementation projects, including providing full project management, creation and maintenance of implementation documentation, and tracking timelines and deliverables. * Perform basic technical implementation tasks, such as customer configuration updates. * Provide technical ownership of long-term customer relationships. * Work closely with Account Management, Sales, Engineering, Product Development and Customer Care to resolve issues that arise during customer trials or integrations. * Identify new product features and additional sales opportunities during trials and integrations and communicate to product development and engineering teams. * Participate in internal projects
Ideal Candidate
* Master’s Degree in CS/MIS a plus * PMP, Agile or “Big 5” Consulting experience a plus * Experience with Internet technologies such as HTTP, DNS, TCP, SSL, OSI, including an understanding of web performance, site delivery and web analytics * Exceptional project management skills especially in current Agile/Kanban methodologies and tools * Experience developing and driving Software as a Service (SaaS) strategies within an enterprise * Experience developing and driving Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) strategies within large enterprises * Experience with Content Management Systems within business and technical organizations * Experience developing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies * Experience in a customer-facing role requiring a high level of individual responsibility, sound business judgment and large enterprise account management, where an aptitude for improving customer satisfaction was successfully demonstrated. * Must possess excellent written, verbal and presentation skills * Must be enthusiastic, action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences * Experience managing a high volume of activity, and a large number of projects, in a fast-paced growing organization. * Ability to self-manage and prioritize workload. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, executive level presence and experience in facilitation
