Senior Product Architect, OTT

Akamai Technologies is seeking a technical leader as Product Architect for our Media Services engineering team. We need an individual that is passionate about Over-The-Top media, has a mind for distributed system architecture, and can work cross-functionally with a variety of core and supporting roles, to ensure overall success of the product. In this role you would have the opportunity to help design and launch products that power workflows for the top media and entertainment companies in the world in distributing their OTT content via innovative new services.

* Provide architectural leadership to the media services engineering team * Interface and partner with multiple peer and platform teams to build a cohesive product set * Work directly with customers and partners to understand their needs and evangelize our capabilities

**Basic Qualifications** * Education: BS degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience * 5+ years of software architecture and design experience * 2+ years in a customer facing role * 2+ years experience with C/C++ software development on Linux * 2+ years with dynamic/scripting languages like Python and Javascript **Desired Qualifications** * Strong written and verbal communication and consensus-building skills * Experience managing and leading engineering teams is welcome * Ability to learn fast and adapt to a changing industry with moving requirements * Experience with Media content workflow, including acquisition, encoding, streaming, DRM, metadata and rights * Experience with adaptive bitrate protocols such as HLS and DASH * Experience working with large scale distributed software systems (i.e. “the cloud”) * Experience with No-SQL Databases a plus (e.g. Couch DB, Cassandra). * Experience with Internet protocols including HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP **Other Information** * Is relocation available for this position: No * Is US Citizenship required: No * Is a Security Clearance Required: No * If yes, applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation & must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
