Summary
AIG is seeking an Accountant III for the SEC Reporting Group in our New York office. The right individual will gain insight and exposure to AIG's Quarterly External Financial Reporting along with a deep understanding of the factors which drive the published results.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the preparation of AIG's quarterly Financial Supplement and 10K/Q - along with other documentation in support of AIG's quarterly financial reporting. * Review and understand documentation supporting certain footnote disclosures. * Prepare consolidated analytics on a US GAAP basis based on AIG's Financial Supplement - analyzing and explaining significant fluctuations in the balance sheet and income statement. * Perform deep dive reviews and ad hoc projects as needed. * Interact and develop relationships with multiple business units throughout the company across various levels of management.
Ideal Candidate
* B.A. / B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA and/or public accounting experience is preferred. * 4 or more years experience in accounting/financial reporting. * Strong analytical skills, particularly the ability to understand and analyze key business drivers. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential with the ability to concisely and clearly communicate complex matters as they arise.. * Proficient in the use of MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access. * Build and maintain partnerships within the various business units, along with the ability to influence business partners to deliver solutions to issues and problems. * Be comfortable interacting with various levels of management. * Ability to quickly understand workings of complex systems involved in producing quarterly reporting packages.
