In this Principal Engineer Systems Test role, you will extract and immerse yourself with Aerohive customer requirements & product solutions, form knowledge and opinions about system level test coverage, write and review system test plans & coverage, and provide technical training or knowledge sharing to increase the global QA team’s capability in generating and executing optimized system test coverage.
Responsibilities
* Interact with peer groups (e.g. SE, TME, Support, PLM) and customers where applicable to understand customer use cases & pain points. Derive and communicate the necessary test coverage at the solution/customer/system testing levels. * Lead the reviews and improvements of the new and existing QA test plans and test coverage from the QA team with an aim to maximize the technical width and depth of the system level test coverage. Initial focus will be on the Wi-Fi products and will expand to cloud management platform & applications. * Lead the QA team to continue to enhance test automation for the system test scenarios and coverage, using the chosen Robot Framework and Python scripting language. * Lead and introduce best practices in system test to the QA organization. The best practices may include introduction of improved test process and/or effective system test tools. * Lead the QA team to do postmortem analysis and actions from the CFDs (Customer Found Defects) to improve QA system test coverage and to increase QA technical capability. * Participate in project reviews and provide assessment of the major product issues and quality. His/her assessment may be a gauge to gate release criteria or defect fixes. * Provide technical training & knowledge sharing about system testing to the global QA team. * Work with engineering management to assist planning and implementation of agreed and applicable continuous improvements in system testing.
Ideal Candidate
* 7+ years’ hands-on experiences performing system-wide QA testing in the networking industry, * 5+ years’ experiences in leading and training QA team in the excellence of system test planning and system test coverage, * Outstanding technical & hands-on expertise in system testing execution, system test planning, and customer issues trouble-shooting & resolution. * Past experiences of Wi-Fi & AP system level testing is strongly desired. IP layer 2 & 3 networking, and cloud-based NMS system level testing will be beneficial. * Experiences & capability in test automation, particularly Python programming. * Solid understanding & experience of Agile development process, * Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills, * Travel requirement: once per quarter to Hangzhou office in China. * Minimum Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred. * Experience in test tools and utilities such as Ixia, IxVeriwave, Spirent, IxChariot, Wireshark/Ethereal, Omnipeak is preferred. * Good system administration knowledge of Linux/Windows based operating systems.
