We embed sustainability principles in every design. AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Mechanical Engineer for immediate employment for the Whitby, Ontario office. Responsibilities
* Mechanical Engineering and design for institutional and recreational buildings, transit maintenance facilities, parking structures, water treatment pump stations, Subway & LRT stations, telecommunication facilities, and railway/bus yards * Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal writing, technical reports, assist with cost estimates, detailed analyses and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes * Development of mechanical design concepts with architects, engineers and owners; Design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, compressed air, specialty exhaust, and building automation systems * Ensuring design conforms with all applicable Codes and client standards * Travel to the construction sites to conduct inspections and prepare reports * Technical supervision of junior engineers and technologists incl. mark-ups and review of design and drafting * Assist with Mechanical system commissioning and attend site construction inspections * Provide valuable leadership to junior staff while supporting them with skills development * Work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the same
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Requirements** * Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering * 5+ years of progressively responsible applicable experience within a Consulting Engineering environment * Registered as a P.Eng * Demonstrated excellent written and verbal English communication skill proficiency effectively communicating complex engineering issues and writing technical reports * Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment * Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm in design of HVAC, refrigeration, fire protection and process systems * A valid drivers license is required **Preferred Qualifications** * Ideal candidate would have significant local experience in above mentioned markets with strong ties and background in the local market, Transit Authorities and the consulting community * Experience in business development, proposal writing and development of fees for the mechanical component of proposals * Experience in energy audits, CFD & SES modelling is an asset * Experience in mechanical/industrial systems in a transit maintenance facility * LEED accreditation considered an asset * Revit design experience considered a strong asset
