Summary
The Field Applications Engineer is a client facing role that is responsible for managing a portfolio of opportunities needing development expertise. The position will support coordination with internal and external resources to generate the design, obtain necessary site information through site visits if necessary, and communicate site information that may impact design to the Business Development and Development under her/his assignment and will partner with/be supported by AMS team members, equipment manufacturers and external consultants.
Responsibilities
Supports all phases of the sales process by serving as AMS’ client facing design and engineering expert from initial site evaluation through support of contract execution and site permitting. The position requires mastery of design considerations of Advanced Microgrid Solutions products, both existing products as well as those in development. * Represents Advanced Microgrid Solutions in client facing meetings covering engineering and technical issues, including meetings with owners, contractors and regulatory authorities * Oversees the preparation of preliminary mechanical, electrical, civil and/or structural designs for energy storage systems * Leads and supervises development design team in preparation office design deliverables, including preliminary engineering drawings and gathering necessary site information * Leverages understanding of construction logistics, site preparation, material and labor costs to ensure design is optimized and value engineered to greatest extent possible * Serves as primary interface with Business Development on matters relating to RFP responses and preliminary engineering progress, quality, scope and schedule. Maintains control over early design activities pertaining to the proposal, including engineering, quality control, and code compliance * Leads in defining a project’s functional and spatial requirements. Estimates costs and develops schedules for the design of storage battery projects. * Reviews and edits proposed engineering budget and schedule, and communicates resource needs to senior management
Ideal Candidate
* A Bachelor’s degree, Electrical Engineering * Minimum of 4-6 years project engineering experience in the design/build, EPC or utility electricity generation field * Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in electrical engineering * Thorough knowledge of electrical design, materials and methods of installation especially in power generation * Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors * Familiarity with construction costs, schedules, and work-breakdown-structure project accounting. Construction experience in the fuel cell, battery storage or solar industry. * Ability to delegate and prioritize work of drafters, technicians, and interns * Ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus * Strong familiarity with construction and electrical codes

70% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers
