Overall, the position of Tools Developer is expected to partner with the organization to support the IDD department in the design, implementation, and maintenance of documentation production tools. These tools both parse and generate a variety of documentation formats, including Word, PDF, HTML, MS Help 2 and MSHV 1.0.

* Maintaining IDD’s current documentation production tools. * Rationalizing and improving the implementation of IDD’s current documentation production tools. * Designing and implementing new documentation production tools. * Supporting the IDD team and partners in using IDD’s documentation production tools.

* Good people skills – the ability to work with people of varying levels of technical sophistication to understand their requirements. * The ability to map out processes needed to accomplish goals. * Extensive experience with XML, XSLT, XPath, PHP, and Mysql is required. * Experience with C++, Doxygen, the Qt framework, and Perl is strongly desired. * Experience with documentation production tools is desired. * The ability to review project objectives and translate them into detailed tasks. * The ability to track tasks from conception to implementation. * A solid understanding of software development processes and best practices is required.
