Summary
Immunology Discovery at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA is seeking a motivated and experienced scientist to lead the application of flow cytometric technologies, both standard fluorescent and CyTOF, to immunology projects from discovery through early clinical development in a science-based environment. The selected candidate will oversee the flow cytometry core team and interface with multiple project teams to provide flow cytometry advice, guidance and support for advancing our therapies in autoimmune indications, as well as for AbbVie’s Biologics group. This includes assistance/instruction for analysis of in vitro models, pre-clinical animal models and clinical samples to advance our understanding of diseases and the mechanisms of action of our potential therapeutics. In addition, the selected candidate will participate directly in the development of flow cytometry-based biomarkers, clinical validation and assay transfer for specific immunology projects. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience applying advanced flow cytometric techniques to immunological questions, be attentive to detail and have excellent collaborative, organizational and supervisory skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a scientist with a strong background in immunology and flow cytometry to participate in preclinical and translational research.
Responsibilities
* Manage the flow cytometry group including a newly established CyTOF capability. * Provide advice and guidance to teams requiring flow cytometry support. * Participate in preclinical and translational research through the application of flow cytometry. * Design and develop biomarker assays for transfer to CROs.
Ideal Candidate
* PhD in immunology or related field and 6+ years of flow cytometry experience related to immunology. Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred. * Extensive knowledge and experience with flow cytometry; ability to design and execute strategies to meet the needs of project teams; experience with CyTOF desired. * Experience developing biomarker assays to enable projects to transition to the clinic; experience working with CROs to enable clinical trials desired. * Ability to integrate information from multiple disciplines to advance projects. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to manage a team. * Excellent interpersonal, leadership & organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with scientists from multiple disciplines to advance drug development.
