Summary
The Technical Consultant is responsible for the installation and configuration of all required third party products and ABB Network Manager Software on the customer’s deliverable system. This position interfaces with the ABB Project Managers, Lead Engineers and Business consultants to effectively build, test and commission Network Manager Systems to new and existing customers. Key success factors include: ability to work closely with the customer’s technical team and IT departments, rigorous attention to detail, troubleshooting ability and commitment to high quality.
Responsibilities
* Installation and configuration of Linux and Windows operating systems. * Basic installation and configuration of Oracle Database Software and other 3rd Party Software. * Installation and configuration of ABB Network Manager multitier applications (SCADA/EMS/DMS). * Preparation and execution of system integration confidence testing. * Works directly with the Customers to demonstrate basic system functionality and system administration. * Prepares and conducts technical training and/or workshops to Customer personnel. * Strives for continuous improvement of methods, processes, productivity and quality, while reducing costs. * Travels 10% of the time as needed to fulfill responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to understand and write in at least one scripting language (Powershell, VBS, Linux Shell, Perl). * Basic understanding of RedHat Linux and Windows (Windows 7, Windows 10, Server 2008, Server 2012) operating systems. * Basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy. * A basic understanding of Oracle RDBMS systems. * Ability to interface with customer personnel in a clear and communicative manner. * Ability to work within established procedures, methodology and guidelines on a continuous basis. * Strong technical writing and editing skills. * Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in order to meet schedules. * Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. * Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. **Desired Skills:** * Ability to improve established procedures, methodologies and guidelines. * Proficient in scripting languages such as Powershell, VBS, Linux Shell (bash, ksh, csh), and/or Perl. * A basic understanding of real time SCADA systems within the electric utility industry. * Knowledge of Application Lifecycle management processes and tools (Change management, Software Configuration Management, Software Testing, Issue Management, etc) **Education:** * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline or evaluated equivalent experience.
