Senior Business Analyst

The Senior Business Analyst is primarily responsible for designing new or modified functionality. This includes ensuring software functionality, design and software presentation adhere to business, user interface and technical standards. Typical tasks assigned to Senior Business Analysts include: developing detailed design documents for all new functionality, presenting completed designs to the product teams in design sessions, reviewing test scripts, ensuring that new functionality meets the business needs of users and creating user documentation. Additionally, the Senior Business Analyst assists the development team with release planning, functional research, and testing of code releases. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the development team is adhering to and enhancing design standards, GUI standards, database standards and software presentation styles. The Senior Business Analyst will be expected to have both basic technical skills as well as industry knowledge and experience.

**Education** * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field **Experience Guidelines** * Eight years of related work experience, five years of direct Functional Design experience * Strong written and oral communication skills * Strong documentation skills with great attention to detail * Ability to work effectively with multiple teams at the same time * Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks * Must thrive in a fast-paced, time-compressed and dynamic environment * Experience with Agile Software Development processes is a plus * Functional knowledge or experience in electricity or gas trading (front office or back office) is a plus * Functional knowledge or experience with ISO Markets or ETRM functions at a power marketer or utility is a plus **Analytical Ability/Problem Solving/Technical/Management Skills** * Ability to analyze business documentation and transform it into detailed functional designs * Ability to identify creative solutions to technical design issues * Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and analyze the software design and business issues * Ability to delve into, understand, and troubleshoot complex mathematical calculations * Ability to query Oracle databases to troubleshoot issues and verify design implementation * Ability to independently manage own work load – proactively interacting with key resources as needed * Schedule and lead design review sessions for all new functionality with the development team Proactively raise issues during the design cycle so that design milestones are always achieved
