Summary
Elite, coast to coast, law firm is seeking a mid-level Litigation Paralegal who thrives in a dynamic, fast paced legal environment to support the Commercial Litigation and Government Contracts practice groups for its Washington, D.C. office. The Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including discovery, trial, post-trial and appellate phases.
Responsibilities
* Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic case files and discovery materials. * Advising attorneys of docket dates and changes. * Conducting research as assigned by attorneys. * Filing and e-filing pleadings with court using appropriate software. * Serving discovery requests and responses using LexisNexis File & Serve or other appropriate software. * Reviewing, coding and analyzing documents in databases; compiling data summaries and summarizing depositions. * Drafting correspondence, declarations and other legal documents. * Assisting attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials and meetings. * Identifying appropriate statutes, judicial decisions, related past cases, legal articles. * Maintaining up-to-date time reports to ensure accurate client billing.
Ideal Candidate
* 4+ years Litigation Paralegal experience in a law firm setting is required. * Bachelor’s degree is preferred but required; paralegal certification is a plus. * Thorough knowledge of litigation, including intake, discovery, document production/management preparing for and attending trials, arbitrations, and hearings. * Experience using litigation support software/e-discovery databases for managing files is required (e.g. Relativity, Logikcull and other document review databases, such as Concordance, Viewpoint, Axcelerate, etc.). * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Adobe Acrobat in a legal setting. * Must be available for overtime work and travel as needed.
