Summary
A dynamic law firm with a broad based, highly ranked Intellectual Property (IP) Practice is seeking an entry level IP/Patent Paralegal to join its Mechanical Group in Washington, D.C. Duties will include:
Responsibilities
* providing paralegal support to attorneys and patent agents in all areas of patent prosecution, maintenance, and litigation; * drafting correspondence including letters to clients, United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), US and Foreign associates; * performing patent searches utilizing electronic databases (i.e. USPTO, foreign and third party databases); preparing information disclosure statements for filing with USPTO; * cite checking/Shepardizing briefs and memoranda; * and assisting with special projects and assignments as necessary.
Ideal Candidate
* 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related scientific discipline from a top tier institution along with strong academic credentials is required. * 0 – 2 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting is ideal but will train right candidate. * Must have excellent, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and computer skills (specifically MS Word and Excel); experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. * Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills. * Must be able to meet deadlines and efficiently work under pressure. Must be flexible to work overtime on an as-needed basis.
