Summary
The person hired for the position of Software Architect Specialist within the R&D Team of the Traffic Safety and Security Division (TSSD) will be primarily responsible for the Architecture, Development, integration, implementation and support of the Host Middle Tier application, experience with GUI development and front end based applications is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Triage for mission critical systems issues located roadside - Provide technical leadership for all project related development activities - Work closely with the Architect and leadership teams to develop next gen solutions in the middle tier space - Assist with roadside systems implementations for customer projects - Provide technical consulting during RFI/RFP process to do fit/gap analysis and solution architecture - Function as an SME for roadside solutions, available for assignment as needed during the RFP response process - Primary point of contact for technical tasks within a roadside projects - Adhere to and supports development standards in place within the development team
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university OR 10 years software development experience - Minimum of three (3) years of experience with Java development - Minimum of five (5) years combined experience using UNIX, and/or LINUX operating systems **Preferred Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. - GUI and front end development for web based applications using Java and frameworks like backbone, Angular, JS. - Experience with Java/Java EE development. - Experience with Database systems. - Experience with scripting languages, creating and modifying generic scripting. - Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. - Strong analytical and logic skills. - Must excel at working with peers within a team environment. - Track record of meeting project timelines and produce a high quality product. - Track record of taking individual initiative and accountability for assignments. - Track record of adapting to changing priorities. - Ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and technologies. - Detail-oriented with respect to documentation and communication. - Commitment to continuing professional development.
