Summary
The person hired for the position of Senior Quality Engineer will drive product performance improvements, understand and communicate customer requirements, lead projects to improve the quality systems, coordinate external quality system audits, and be responsible for the quality management documentation system.
Responsibilities
- Identifies, recommends and implements improvements for the site quality management system based upon International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 - Collaborates with a network of resources such as but not limited to: maintenance, laboratory, regulatory, reliability engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, sales, manufacturing technology - Resolves customer quality issues and acts to eliminate recurrence through corrective and preventive action processes - Leads cross-functional teams to improve process and product understanding - Uses Lean Six Sigma methodology, statistics and quality engineering tools to achieve continuous improvement for both new and existing products - Coordinates external quality system audits and responses - Manages the quality documentation system - Supports new product introductions and product changes - Facilitates the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited institution - Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in quality engineering and/or manufacturing **Preferred Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related discipline from an accredited institution - Professional certification such as Certified Quality Engineer through American Society for Quality (ASQ) - Experience with quality manuals, ISO 9001 and audits - Demonstrated expertise in Quality Engineering skills such as statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), acceptance sampling, process capability, test methods, reliability - Experience with failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), production part approval process (PPAP), advanced product quality planning (APQP), control plans - Previous supervisory experience a plus - Microsoft Office and Minitab proficient - Strong oral, written communication and presentation skills - Ability to influence at all levels - Solid organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments - Experience leading a global cross-functional team
