Summary
The person hired for the position of Senior Product Development Engineer will be performing product design and development activities for both new and sustaining programs. Responsibilities include developing creative solutions to design problems, ensuring the proper engineering deliverables are generated completely, generation of 3D CAD models, 2D CAD drawings, test procedures, tooling/jigs, and meeting schedule and product release plans. This individual will work closely with other engineers, designers, manufacturing, marketing, and regulatory staff to assure specifications are met with technically strong, high quality, cost effective designs following a defined development process.
Responsibilities
- Contributing to development of new designs and/or processes at all stages, from concept creation to launched product and related accessories/jigs - Broad use and application of mechanical engineering principles, concepts, theories and techniques to solve problems related to product development, manufacturing, and design - Ensuring accurate and controlled documents are generated. Produces design models, drawing details, assembly drawings, and associated engineering documentation with 3-D parametric modeling software, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point - Designing and conducting experiments to validate product performance - Interacting with Process Development Engineers and manufacturing personnel to optimize product design for ease of manufacturing - A self-starter in identifying what is critical to the success of the project - Other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics or Engineering from an accredited university - Minimum of five (5) years product design experience using 3D-CAD - Minimum of two (2) years SolidWorks experience **Preferred Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university - Minimum seven (7) years of experience in engineering with at least 3 years of experience in Class I and II medical device designs using FDA design controls - Minimum two (2) years of experience with ANSYS finite element analysis software - Hands-on experience with products that require mold making, welding, machining, fabrication and assembly - Possess excellent technical judgment and able to set logical action plan for design challenge and technical problem resolution - Experience with orthodontic products a plus - Skills include good, clear communication and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
