Summary
3M is seeking a Process Analysis Engineer for the Corporate Engineering Staff Group, Engineering Analysis in Maplewood, MN. This entry level Process Analysis Engineer will employ data acquisition and analysis in combination with structured problem solving methodology to identify key performance limiting factors in manufacturing systems. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceive and develop engineered solutions to mitigate the process limitations. The ideal engineer for this position will demonstrate a strong mechatronic skillset, exhibit a passion for problem solving, and enjoy working with multi-disciplinary teams including laboratory, engineering, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
* Identify and apply appropriate sensor technologies and data acquisition methods to measure and record a wide variety of product properties and process conditions * Employ data analysis techniques along with functional knowledge of manufacturing systems to build process insight and understand sources of product variability * Develop systems to acquire and analyze process data and execute appropriate actions to compensate for source of variability or otherwise alert personnel of required actions * Develop software applications to enable advanced functionality in proprietary manufacturing systems * Communicate to stake holders at multiple levels from operators to executives through written reports and verbal presentations Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** * Possess or in the final year of pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited program. * Previous internship, co-op, and/or industry experience in an engineering role. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Possess or in the final year of pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university * Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude * Familiarity with common manufacturing systems and processes * Strong working knowledge of data acquisition, controls, sensors, and measurements * Certified LabVIEW developer or demonstrated equivalent level of proficiency in LabVIEW development * Proficiency in developing software for technical applications * Theoretical and practical understanding of dynamic systems * Strong oral and written communications skills * Team player with the ability to contribute in a matrix environment
