Summary
3M is seeking an experienced Occupational Epidemiologist for Corporate Occupational Medicine located in Maplewood, Minnesota. Corporate Occupational Medicine is a section of the 3M Medical Department. Be part of what’s next! The Occupational Epidemiologist will be a key player in a well-established occupational epidemiology program. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with functional colleagues in manufacturing, business, safety, health, environmental, industrial hygiene, toxicology on a global basis.
Responsibilities
- Serving as principal investigator or co-investigator for 3M sponsored epidemiology studies - Conducting epidemiologic functions comprising surveillance, data collection, data analysis and epidemiologic investigations -Presentation, publication, and dissemination of data and epidemiologic findings - Providing scientific advice and technical assistance to various 3M businesses on epidemiological issues - Representing 3M at scientific conferences, professional societies, and inter-industry associations - Other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
- Ph.D. in Epidemiology from an accredited university - Minimum five (5) years of occupational epidemiology research experience in conducting prospective, retrospective and case-control studies **Preferred Qualifications:** - Expertise in applied biostatistical analyses including cross-sectional, longitudinal, spatial, and survival methodologies - Proven expertise in epidemiological methods including study design, ecologic fallacy, and healthy worker and survivor effect - Ability to model multi-level (hierarchical) data such as job, department, and location effects - Working knowledge of medical claim files including eligibility, claims (both services and pharmacy), hospitalization (in and out patient) and disability - Understanding of occupational, environmental, and psychosocial stressors and their relationship with health and safety - Understanding of Industrial Hygiene (IH) data as well as techniques to incorporate IH data into statistical modeling - Ability to manage, manipulate, and analyze data - Experience with SAS and Stata software - Experience and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment with good analytical, interpersonal, and professional judgment skills - Excellent written skills and ability to create and deliver effective presentations - Excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate and relate with all levels of the organization including peers, employees, upper management and governmental agencies
