Summary
3M is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for the Oral Care Solutions Division located in Monrovia, California. The person hired for the position of Maintenance Engineer will provide engineering expertise and technical assistance for (1) the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of highly technical automated equipment, (2) development of maintenance procedures and techniques to support safe, reliable and efficient implementation of factory automation to include Robotics, Vision Systems, Integration Software, Motion and Control Systems. This key role will increase the technical capability of the plant and will be leveraged to increase the knowledge and capability of the greater maintenance team. This role will be the technical foundation for a more automation capable Maintenance organization.
Responsibilities
- Leading electrical controls/automation improvement projects - Developing and implementing maintenance procedures and techniques to support and advance factory automation throughout the Monrovia site - Providing electrical controls, programming, software, and application support to automation, robotics, vision, motion control, PLC and SCADA systems - Supporting technical growth of the maintenance staff - Willingness to be on-call - Other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** - Associate’s or two year technical degree or higher from an accredited institution - Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment - Minimum 1 combined year of electrical, controls, vision and/or automation experience **Preferred Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university - Successful track record of training others - Effective "Hands On" techniques - Ability to analyze, problem solve and implement solutions - Excellent computer skills - Excel, Minitab, PowerPoint and Project - Innovation skills to generate new ideas or alternative solutions - Works well on cross-functional teams in a continuous improvement (LEAN) environment - Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously - Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions

This is a Monday-Friday day shift opportunity, with the exception of periodic second and third shift work for training and other operation requirements. Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
