Summary
We are looking for an experienced Sonar or Radar Technician to join our ILS team’s efforts to develop technical documentation, effective interactive training-aids and course-ware for Ultra Electronics 3 Phoenix (UE3P) systems. The successful candidate will either already have experience as a Technical Documentation Analyst or will adapt their existing technical skills and writing ability to the position under the guidance of the ILS Manager. The successful candidate will engage with systems and development engineers in a collaborative approach to the assembly of source data for Technical Manuals, Operator User Manuals, Training Manuals and training aids. The Technical Documentation Analyst will have significant experience in the operation and maintenance of complex electronic or mechanical systems and, through hands-on time with the system, will be able to describe in detail each operation or maintenance task. Additional experience developing technical manuals or training content, training design and development, training delivery, graphic design, technical writing and participation in collaborative projects will be beneficial. The Technical Documentation Analyst will have access to a competent graphics team to assist in the preparation of illustrations and training aids. This position will suit a candidate with military technical experience but a military background is not essential. The Documentation Analyst may also be required to provide field support and training on an occasional basis.
Responsibilities
The Technical Documentation Analyst is responsible for the design and assembly of training courseware and technical documentation for UE3P systems. The task requires the Analyst to gain familiarity with UE3P systems and use hands-on maintenance and operation of the system, combined with use of drawings, diagrams and COTS technical documentation to develop technical manuals or user and maintainer training. Responsibilities include liaising with engineering teams and Program Managers to understand government and contractual requirements for training and technical submissions, and collaborating with system design and development teams to understand system design and operation. As part of the ILS team, the Analyst will also be required to learn and perform general ILS related work. ILS training will be provided as required.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience with operating and maintaining complex electronic or mechanical systems * Experience using or developing technical manuals * Experience developing technical training content and course-ware * Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical subject matter experts to understand requirements and ensure accurate representation of information in an effective, efficient and suitable format * 5 to 7 years of experience in related fields, including training design and development, technical writing and/or technical manual development. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment * Ability to write clear, concise and correct documents and training materials * Ability to obtain appropriate personnel clearance (i.e., US Citizenship required) * Experience maintaining radar or sonar systems * Experience designing and developing training and technical documentation, preferably in a DoD environmentAdditional desired experience includes: * Experience developing S1000D compliant technical manuals * Experience developing SCORM compliant training and using Learning Management Systems * Hands-on experience in the design, insertion, format and development of multimedia/visual aids; developing static, video or diagrammatic visual content; developing artwork posters, displays, visual content and documentation using a range of graphical development tools; organizing and assembling technical input to a final submission. * Experience developing animated technical diagrams such as exploded schematics, and staging digital photographs and video for insertion into training aids or technical documentation * Experience with web page development * Experience with Java, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSP, PHP, ActionScript, SGML, XML
