Summary
We are looking for an experienced Radar or Sonar Technician to join our Fleet Support Team in a multi-function role that includes working with our Engineering and Production Groups to integrate and test systems; assemble hardware; assist with the development of technical documentation and provide customer support to installed systems, including time spent Ship-Riding US Navy ships. This position is not limited to but will ideally suit a former US Navy technician of senior to middle grade with sea experience supporting electronic systems. The successful candidate will either already have experience in most or all aspects of this type of work or will adapt their existing technical skills and writing ability to the position under the guidance of the Fleet Support and ILS Managers. The Fleet Support Technician will develop knowledge of UE3P systems operation and maintenance and interact with Navy customers both at the Command and deck plate level. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the operation and maintenance of complex electronic or mechanical systems, using technical manuals and providing On Job Training (OJT). The ability to work in Linux will be a substantial benefit.
Responsibilities
The Fleet Support Technician is responsible for supporting UE3P deployed or installed systems through Technical Assistance visits or underway Ship-Riding. Responsibilities include developing subject matter expertise of assigned UE3P systems through interaction with the design, engineering and ILS teams including assembly and testing of components, sub systems and systems; liaising with engineering teams, Program Managers and the ILS Manager to support the design and production efforts; using drawings, diagrams and COTS technical documentation to support system integration and test; the development of technical manuals and Operator Maintainer training; providing maintenance support and training to Navy personnel and DoD civilians. Training on UE3P systems will be provided to the successful candidate as required.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience with operating and maintaining complex electronic or mechanical systems * Experience using traditional and electronic technical manuals * 5 to 10 years of experience in relevant fields * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment * Ability to write clear, concise and correct input to technical and training documents * Ability to generate presentational materials using MS Powerpoint * Ability to obtain appropriate personnel clearance (i.e., US Citizenship required) * Experience maintaining radar or sonar systems * Experience performing Linux admin tasksAdditional desired experience includes: * Experience developing technical manuals * Experience developing technical training content and course-ware
