Private Duty, LPN/RN (Kinston-PRN)

The Private Duty, LPN is responsible for providing skilled nursing bedside care to patients in the home care setting.

* Assists in the assessment of patient’s needs, utilizing the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementing and evaluating, and documents the care delivered. * Observes the patient's condition and reports changes of condition and the need for nursing measures requiring additional orders to the MD and to the Director of Private Duty timely. * Performs competently all skills, treatments, and procedures, as approved, and within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act regulations of the State Board of Nursing. * Writes legible and accurate clinical and progress notes regarding patient's care and condition in a timely manner. * Assists the patient with personal care, as well as basic nursing care. * Assists the patient's family and other health care team members in providing continuity of care and meeting the emotional needs of the patient and immediate family through education regarding disease process, disease prevention strategies and self-care techniques. * Updates professional knowledge and skills continually through attendance and participation in continuing education inservice classes. * Takes responsibility for own actions and for seeking sufficient information necessary to function effectively in the home care setting. * Attends agency mandatory in-services and satisfies CEU requirements of the State Board of Nursing. * Adheres to the Agency’s Personnel Policy and Compliance Plan. * Willingly performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. * Displays a high degree of courtesy, tact, and knowledge of services provided by the Agency in all contact with staff, patients, and visitors.

* Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice nursing in the state of North Carolina. * One-year of recent experience in an acute care facility. * Successful completion of skills assessment. * Possess and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. * Must be self-directed, possess good observational/nursing judgement and communication skills.
