About 10X Genomics
Sequencing technology fueled advances in applications such as SNP identification and molecular quantitation at a massive rate and scale, but a significant amount of critical genetic information remains inaccessible.
Summary
10x is seeking an outstanding fluid mechanics R&D engineer to join its Microfluidics group. The engineer must be able to learn quickly, creatively solve problems, and efficiently execute complex microfluidic characterization experiments. We are looking for experimentalists but with a deep understanding of fluid physics and transport phenomena.
Responsibilities
* Perform macro- and microfluidic device characterization experiments and troubleshooting * Perform data analysis and documentation * Actively take part in developing new characterization techniques and in optimizing device design and performance
Ideal Candidate
* PhD in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or a related field. Industry experience a plus. * Detail oriented experimentalist in fluidic testing, data analysis and device characterization * Strong understanding of practical fluid mechanics, multiphase fluid physics, surface science, and transport phenomena * Ideal candidate will have a deep experience in droplet microfluidics including droplet generation physics, microparticle synthesis, biomolecule encapsulation dynamics, and droplet unit operations * Hands-on experience required in executing, optimizing, and troubleshooting assays * Experience with microscopy, quantitative fluorescence imaging, fluid flow characterization, and high-speed imaging * Experience with Python, Excel macros, and simulation tools such as Comsol
