Software Engineer

As a software engineer at Bloc, you will be an indispensable member of our team. You'll build & improve software that will be used by a variety of stakeholders, including students, mentors, alumni, prospective students, executives, and more. As we grow, we need top-notch engineering to ensure a smooth lifecycle from development, staging, testing, through production. We need people who have a broad, deep toolbox, a can-do attitude, and a passion for helping students enter new careers in software development and design.

* Have the ability to contribute to projects independently and collaboratively * Have strong technical and non-technical communication skills * Be comfortable giving and receiving specific, actionable feedback with humility and respect * Have 2+ years of experience shipping well-structured, readable, production-ready code * Understand how to structure data in a way that makes regular analysis easy and flexible * Be comfortable in an unfamiliar codebase

* Experience with technical writing & developer evangelism * Passionate about contributing to open source * Ability to make product decisions * Intimate familiarity with Ruby on Rails, ES2016, AngularJS 1.4+, and PostgreSQL * Familiarity working with build systems (e.g. Webpack) and automated testing * Voracious thirst to continue learning
